In that time we have produced a wide array of agricultural products. The
following is a list of those items that are now seasonally available for
sale on farm.

BEEF
WE HAVE BEEF IN STOCK
Place
your order here.
We have been raising beef for the past 20 years. We began finishing beef
in the late ninteen-eighties. All beef is pasture based (raised on our
grass pastures) and pasture finished. We have a closed herd that means
that the calves are born here on farm and then raised until mature and
ready for slaughter. The slaughter and butchering is done at a USDA inspected
facility. This allows us to legally sell 'cuts' of beef. The slaughter
facility, Green Village Packing, located in Green Village Morris Co. New
Jersey is a family owned and operated abattoir. They are within an hours
drive of the farm which has direct impact on the stress level of the animal
being transported. They do good work, are detail oriented, and provide
the level of personal attention and interaction that we need to feel comfortable
about having them process our beef.
As a result, until we have nearby access to a certified organic facility
we can not label our beef as certified organic.
Our beef is 'raised certified organic','slaughtered USDA inspected'.
All orders are filled first come first served.
Fruit
We have a number
of apple and pear trees as well as some grape vines and berry bushes.
Due to labor issues the berries are 'pick your own' for CSA members only.
Apples and Pears are available in the fall. Grapes we haven't been selling
because we're renovating the arbors.
HERBS
We have a wealth of wild herbs. I am very interested in networking with
one or more individuals with specific expertise and experience in managing
this outstanding resource. I would expect to begin with a variety and
volume audit. We have an abundance of the perforata variety of St. John's
Wort, mother wort, mullein, stinging nettle, burdock, chickory,Queen Anne's
Lace, spice bush, and a wealth more.
HONEY
WE NOW HAVE HONEY IN STOCK
1# - $7.50
1/2# - $4.75
2.5# - $17.00
We have 7 bee hives this year. We rely on these hard working bees to perform
pollinating services for us and we offer them a chemical free environment.
AS our reward we get magnificent honey!! The honey is raw, screened but
unfiltered, and delicious as well as full of the healthful properties
of local raw honey. We will ship honey at the above price plus $5 handling
and the actual cost of shipping.
MAPLE SYRUP
8oz - $14
February is the season to tap the trees. This
is New Jersey Maple Syrup and I think it is both unique in flavor and
very delicious. I have heavy syrup which is a beautiful burnt sienna color.
So far I can vouch for it being delicious with whole milk yogurt, pancakes
and the usual line of breakfast favorites. If you hide some away for fall
try it with homemade apple pie ala mode. !WOW!
WHY WE USE GLASS
Upper Meadows Farm is committed to contributing to reducing the waste
stream! That is why we encourage you to bring and use your recycled bags
and containers. We bottle our syrup and honey in glass to encourage you
to reuse the containers. And so that if you do not reuse, we are not adding
difficult or impossible to recycle materials into the environment.
Vegetables
We
plant over 12 acres with over 200 varieties of vegetables. These are dedicated
to our CSA membership. All excess however, is available at our various
markets. Check out our Blog
for the weekly distribution list of fresh vegetables between June and
November.
WOOD
Upper Meadows Farm consists of 153 acres. Roughly one third of this is
forest. The remaining acreage has a significant population of trees along
the stone rows and field margins. We have scotch pine, douglas fir, and
white pine as the predominant pine species. Four acres of the farm having
been planted in the mid-1960s as part of a conservation program. We have
a good population of white ash, several oak varieties, hickory, black
cherry, poplar/aspen, sycamore, among others. We own a Woodmizer Sawmill
with which we mill the better logs that we cut. This is done very specifically
as we are actively managing our entire farm. As a result we have a small
supply of some unique hardwoods and pines. I have particularly sold items
to friends who make furniture and household accents from this wood. I
have no set prices, and no set sizes. Anyone who is interested in purchasing
some wood for a specific project please e-mail or call and let us see
if we may have what you are looking for.
